HERE WE, HERE WE, HERE WE FUCKING GO

"HAIRY, HAIRY, HAIRY COTTON BALLS!"
"HAIRY, HAIRY, HAIRY COTTON BALLS!"

It took me at least five minutes and shouting in Samantha's ear to discover that the crowd behind us weren't chanting "hairy, hairy, hairy cotton balls" (why the idea they were didn't faze me...) but instead:

"HERE WE, HERE WE, HERE WE FUCKING GO!!"

Which is the norm for Scottish people to chant before something begins. It's a nod to what's to come and an appreciation of everything it took to get there. At least, that's how I like to see it.  It's slightly crude, but I love it.

I spend Sunday night on a train into Edinburgh with one of my best friends, finally having the chance to talk about everything that's been going on the past few weeks. We're supposed to be getting of at a stop we don't really know of, but we see a guy wearing a Catfish and the Bottlemen t-shirt and decide to follow him. As it turns out we get of the train with loads of people also going to the concert. We're laughing because they're the kind of people we don't get on with, and we know it all too well. We make a stop off at asda (a highlight simply because of the 'sweetcorns is the plural of stockcubes?' confusion) before walking down the road to discover it's queued right round the side.

We're near the end of the queue but we don't have bags so we get through quickly and make our way to the front. We end up second row, next to a mosh pit but far enough away for it not to affect us terribly much. The support act, the London Soles from New York are incredible and I love their hair. Then Catfish come on and the lights go down and you just knew it was going to be good.

Coming to the show was last minute for me. I'd said to Sam that if she couldn't get someone to go with her then I'd come. I like Catfish, I just haven't listened to them in a while. Now I'm obsessed. It amazed me how well I remembered their songs, how good the crowd was. Seeing an artist live always gives me this new level of respect and awe and admiration for them that wasn't necessarily there before. All in all the concert was amazing and I'm so glad I decided to go. I am exhausted at school the next day but it was SO worth it.

Love,
