Liebster Award 2016

Over the years I've been lucky enough to be nominated for this lovely award more than my fair share of times, but I always love answering all the different questions and getting an opportunity to nominate some of my favourite bloggers. This time I have to thank one of my absolute favourite bloggers on the planet, the beautiful Augustin Ra from Indie Spirit for the nomination. I was honoured to receive it :)

1) What's the story behind your name?
My full name is Anne Patricia Maria Timmons Boyle. I'm called Anne after both of my grandmothers and St. Anne, the mother of Mary. I got my middle name Patricia because I was a miracle baby and it was on St Patrick's Day 1998 that I first started to grow normally. I picked Maria as my confirmation name when I was eleven, and you had to pick a saint, so I picked Blessed Maria Theresa Ledochowska because I've always admired her. Timmons is my dad's last name and Boyle is my mum's last name. You can see why I shorten it!!

2) How would you describe your personality?
I don't really know how to answer that. See, I'm not entirely sure my personality is set in stone just yet; I'm still quite young and I feel like our personalities develop as our lives do.  I'd say I'd describe myself as positive, honest, bright, colourful, hopeful, determined and stubborn.

3) Who is the most influential person in your life?
I can't specify one specific person, as different people influence me in hundreds of different ways every day. My family as a whole are probably the biggest influence on me.

4) Who is the most influential person you want to meet in person and what do you want to learn from him/her?
I'm not really sure to be honest! I've not really got anyone specific in mind.

If you had to live your life all over again, what part of your life would you change?
Over the years I would devote more time to the people I loved dearly and then lost. Old friends, aging family members, the people who weren't in my life for as long as I wish they had been.

What is your edge from other bloggers?
10 years of blogging later I would say my foundations. Most people start their first blogs on the back of a beauty/literature/fashion obsession and it is those blogs that have grown massively and taken the blogosphere to where it is now. My first blog however was a lot more poignant. I was eight years old and spent most of my free time in the hospital. One of my dearest friends in the world then was a girl called Ronnie and she had leukaemia. I started blogging on her request. I blogged about my life outside the hospital as during chemotherapy I would be unable to visit for weeks at a time, and she said she wanted something to read. Then together we would write blogs about the hospital, moaning about the food and a variety of other things. It was a way to distract two little girls from the harsh reality I guess. Sadly the blog was private and a couple of years ago when her mother and I tried to get back into it we couldn't for the life of us remember the password. I'm not 100% convinced I want to re-read it, but it would be nice to know I could. We still live in hope that we'll find it scribbled down somewhere eventually. Ronnie died when we were eleven, and on Monday it will be seven years to the day. I miss her terribly, especially around this time of year, but I think she would be proud seeing that even though it took a few years for me to get back into blogging; I'm still here. I guess in a strange way I still imagine her as my only audience.

What is the most important lesson your mother has taught you?
My mother is the strongest woman I know. I would say the most important lesson she has taught me is that you should never, ever, ever give up. From her I've learned the importance of staying true to yourself and what you believe in, even when everyone else is standing against you.

What is your favorite body part?
Maybe it's because I'm now working in an eye hospital where my eyes get complimented every day, but I would say my eyes. I have partial heterochromia, which means that my eyes are two different colours! It's partial and very subtle as they are similar colours; as one is mostly green with a bit of blue and the other is mostly blue with a bit of green. I used to hate it when I was younger, when it was a lot more obvious. Nowadays most people hardly notice, but I quite like it now.

How will you make a difference in this world?
I would hope to everything in my power to make a positive difference and a worthwhile contribution to this world. I don't know how exactly, right now it's being a volunteer teacher in an eye hospital, but in the future who knows?

If we're together right now, what would you tell me?
I would tell you how happy I was to see you first of all. You'd have to fly to India to get here too, so I'd also probably ask how your flight was. After that I have no idea :P

If I were in your doorstep right now, where would you take me and why?
I would you show you around my little hostel/assumed home, then I would take you into Hyderabad and show you some of the city sights.

So now for my nominations!!

  5. Omg, Anne! I was really moved with your answers. You're such a good friend to start blogging in such a young age to have your friend something to read. For sure, she's so proud of you of what you've become. Btw, your name is pretty long and I was surprised that your mom's surname is your last name. I guess, it really varies on a country. My last name is my father's last name which is my country's culture when it comes to a child's last name. Hehe! :) and I LOVE YOUR EYES! <3

    1. Ahh yeah , I hope she's proud! My name is super long, but I generally shorten it so my dad's name is what I use as my last name normally. THANK YOU, YOUR SUCH A LIL ANGEL <3
